Meet Taylor

Taylor Nonnenmacher, RDN

Hi, I’m Taylor!

I believe in discovering what we can add to your life instead of what we can take away.

From a young age I noticed “diet and wellness culture” messages buzzing all around, telling us what foods we need to cut out of our lives, shouting fear-based messages, and selling promises of “quick fixes”. It is so alluring!  And at vulnerable times in my life, I’ve been sucked into it too. What I didn’t realize all that time was that I didn’t need to fix anything…

I was never broken.

For me, food freedom meant liberating myself from the rigid rules about what, when, and where to eat and learning how to tune back in and trust my inner wisdom.

What could we add to your life? Flexibility in food choices? Self-Compassion? Body trust?

I’ve always found the human body utterly fascinating.

So, nutrition school it was! My undergraduate education at University of New Hampshire gave me a wonderful base of knowledge in nutrition science. However, it was after my schooling that much of my learning (as well as unlearning) truly began about what it means to be “healthy”. As I transitioned from classrooms and textbooks to real people and face-to-face interactions, my eyes were opened to the nuances of the human experience. There is not a one-size-fits-all formula to achieve health.  The definition of health, and the path toward it, is different for everyone.

I value your lived experience; I will partner with you to envision and manifest your unique version of good health.

The outdoors taught me how to appreciate my body more than ever.

As a long-time soccer player, though I loved being part of a team, I learned that running and other exercises were punishment for not performing “correctly.”  After I had finished my team soccer “career”, the joy was completely absent from movement!  It was quite the opposite of joy, really.  In re-examining my relationship to movement, I realized that I only needed to satisfy myself through how I moved my body, and I began to shift my focus towards celebrating what my body can do.

And now, I’m an avid hiker, mountain biker, rock climber, skier and I’ve grown a deep appreciation for my body and all the ways it allows me to experience the outdoors. At times, I choose to move in ways that challenge me both mentally and physically, but most importantly, I find ways to move that give me pleasure and joy, not pain.

The story of your unique body matters.

Each person’s journey is different.  Internal forces (like genetics) and external forces (like weight stigma) swirl together to create an infinitely complex story.  I seek to understand and honor the story of your body.  My work is firmly rooted in the HAESⓇ science and philosophy. I strive to help create a world where marginalized bodies have access to the same rights, resources, and respect as those people in the most privileged bodies.

It’s OK if you don’t like your body right now.

It’s ok if your body feels like your enemy and respecting your body feels far in the distance.  You are in the right place to begin examining this relationship and embarking on the path toward making peace with your body.

When you release the micromanaging of food and your body, space opens up in your life.

“Space for what?” you might ask. Juicy question! Navigating what might feel like the “great unknown” of that extra space might be scary, and I’m here to support you.

I invite you to schedule a free discovery call to explore getting started.
