Our Philosophy

Hello. Hi. We see you.

We see your struggle. Your eating patterns, thoughts about food, and body loathing have become life-consuming. Desperately wanting to find peace, you’re at a loss for how to find it. But not for lack of trying – each arduous attempt at weight loss or “getting healthy” leaves you feeling more frustrated, anxious, and perhaps more like a failure than before. Let’s try something new.

Eating should be easy.

Eating should be enjoyable. Eating should be about nourishment – your body well-fed, traditions honored, celebrations had, and relationships nurtured.

This is what we do best.

Eating can be all those things for you – easy, enjoyable, and nourishing to body, mind, and heart. We help people like you make peace with food and learn to treat your body in its current form with respect and care. You’ll enter a space full of healing potential; a space for you to awaken to the beliefs and behaviors that keep you stuck in the painful dieting cycle trying to fix your body. If you’ll willing to embark on the journey, we’ll guide you in your treasure hunt for the key that unlocks the invisible prison door to finally break free from food and body obsession, creating the space for you to experience joy, confidence, and connection… In short, space to live your most full and vibrant life.

Our current model for health is broken. It’s time for a new paradigm.

The tired diet-culture “weight = health” and “thinner = more valuable” paradigm breeds anxiety, discontent, insecurity, and food and body obsession. In our careers thus far, we have witnessed the struggle and pain of hundreds of clients on the dieting cycle, and many who have sunk into the depths of an eating disorder. Our work with clients is a refreshing and much-needed departure from the traditional, inaccurate and outright harmful weight-equals-health mentality; it is an endorsement of a shift in paradigm to improving physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being irrespective of weight.

Weight is the last socially acceptable form of discrimination in our culture.

We see evidence of weight discrimination everywhere – in searching for a job, in media, and airline travel, and most definitely in healthcare. A part of the larger mission of my practice is to be a part of a growing movement that changes this tune to one of inclusion. As practitioners in genetically thin bodies, we are committed to being allies to help break down this harmful weight stigma, so that every body may live in their own skin in peace.  You have our commitment to approaching your care in a weight-inclusive manner, with compassion and respect.

All are welcome here. You are welcome.

You deserve as much respect as the next person. You deserve to feel joy, confidence, love; all those things are available to you. And, the path to those things is probably much different (and much more enjoyable) than you think! We would be honored to walk beside you on your journey.
